Who am I?

Well, I have decided to create a blog. I figured why not right? So a little about me.... I am 27 years old and live in Morris County, NJ. I have just recently graduate from Rutgers University in Newark, NJ with a Bachelor of Science in the field of Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. I enjoyed my time learning at Rutgers and proud to be apart of the diverse community it is. I have been passionate about the Criminal Justice field since I was little. I would look forward to the afternoons each day after school to watch the reality show versions such as New Detectives, First 48, etc. I loved to watch the detectives in action and the though process and techniques they used to solve crimes. When I saw those shows, I knew it was something I wanted to be able to do one day. I wanted to be able to one day make a difference and give justice to those who have been victims. I hate when people are hurt no matter what way it might be and feel those who have no remorse for others and are willing to hurts others should be punished for their actions. I used to watch those shows so much that I would be driving around and whenever I would see a garbage bag or blanket on the side of the road I would wonder if it was foul play. That was when I took a step back and said that I can't let what I watch effect my daily life.

When it comes to my other passions and activities I enjoy there are so many that it would be impossible to get into detail of them all, but we shall see where we get. I am an avid puzzle goer. I love putting puzzles together, gluing them, and then putting them on the wall. I have been working on a Disney theme of puzzles for the room at my house my niece would stay in. I believe I have done about 15 or so puzzles already if not more. I like to be challenged and related to puzzles also goes logic problems. I have a huge collection of those WordPress Logic Problem books at home on my shelf. I can sit there for hours working on them. Besides puzzles to challenge me, I also enjoy crafts such as cross stitching (which I have been doing since I was 10), and making hand made cards with a technique called Prick N Stitch. I have made Save the Dates for a friends wedding, Baby Shower invites for my sister's baby shower, birthday cards, Christmas cards, basically any holiday card as well as bookmarks. I really enjoy making them and have made an Etsy site to try to sell my work. Another thing I like to do are put together Lego sets. I like to have themes to go on and one day hope to get those Lego Creator Pet Shop, Cafe, etc ones and build a whole Lego town!

While it is nice to stay in and relax with activities, I enjoy spending time outside as well. Going to the city to walk around or visit a museum, park, show, etc is also very enjoyable. There is so much out there to see! The Storm King Sculpture Park in NY is a favorite place to visit for me as the sculptures are amazing and magnificent. They are always displaying new pieces of art and the property is some 500 acres or so. Another place I visit is Longwood Garden in PA. I have been going there since I was little and it is so beautiful to walk around and see all the flowers, vegetation and enjoy the nature there. The history of the property is also very amazing on how far back it dates. It is beautiful to visit no matter what the season/time of year is! The NY Renaissance Faire is a fun activity of mine during the summer to get dressed up in my renaissance garb and walk around. I have been going there since I was little as well and it is kind of a tradition to go every year. I have friends who work there as well so it is nice to see them since I don't see them often.

Those are just some things I like to do to keep me busy. I currently work as a mother's helper for a family of 4 kids. I have been at this job for 3 years and as much as I love it in every way, I want to be doing something more towards the goal I have set in becoming a detective with the FBI. I have recently put my resume together to start looking at the opportunities available to me out there. I am also participating in the National Criminal Justice Honor Society on campus, Alpha Phi Sigma. I really hope I get accepted to it as it would be a great achievement and organization to be a part of. I currently am involved in the Morris County Prosecutors Workshops. It is a 5* session program where you learn the ins and outs about jobs and futures in the CJ field. We had out first session last night and it was wonderful! I learned a lot of helpful and useful information. I can't wait to use the tools to help me better my future to get to my goal.

I guess that is enough for today! :) Happy Thursday and Happy Groundhog Day!
